A sculpture to mark the site where thousands of babies are laid to rest, beneath little more than a cluster of trees, was unveiled by Agnes Close.

The baby plot at Belfasts City Cemetery is strewn with tokens of lost lives like teddy bears and little plaques.
But after decades, where the site was little more than an anonymous corner of the graveyard, a campaign by families to have their babies final rest place recognised, has now be set in stone.

The Kilkenny blue limestone memorial will mark the spot where, it is believed, 7,863 babies were buried at what has been described as a mass grave.
