Louise Haigh MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland is pictured during her first visit to Northern Ireland since becoming Shadow Secretary of State.
Louise Haigh met local LGBT+ and equal marriage campaigners, with whom she has been working since her appointment to the role in April.
The meeting addressed s the need to secure the final change to law required to deliver full marriage equality, conversion of civil partnerships, and other issues facing the LGBT+ community, such as the need to ban conversion therapy and introduce inclusive relationships and sexuality education.
Ahead of the meeting, held during Belfast Pride week, Louise Haigh was pictured at the mural of the late Lyra McKee, who championed same-sex marriage and LGBT+ equality along with John ODoherty, director, The Rainbow Project; Patrick Corrigan, Northern Ireland director, Amnesty International; Ellen Fearon, President, NUS-USI; Adam Murray, Cara-Friend; Rev Chris Hudson, All Souls Church, Belfast.
