Loyalist paramilitary group the Red Hand Commando has made an application to be removed from the UK's list of proscribed terrorist organisations. The RHC was formed in 1972 in the Shankill area of west Belfast. It had close links to the UVF and waged a paramilitary campaign until the loyalist ceasefires of 1994.
